Bruins Public Health partners with Nora Sterry Elementary School, located in Los Angeles, to provide health lessons for first grade students. As a Title I status school, Nora Sterry has a student population of around 275 students with at least 40% of students qualifying as low-income. As such, it is our club’s goal to provide low-income and at-risk students with comprehensive lessons that equip them with the necessary tools to shape their future health.
In the past, our club has taught various holistic health topics ranging from sun protection to personal hygiene, and even consent. This year, BPH will be expanding its reach by working with two second grade classrooms, alternating weekly, to raise awareness and promote health education in the Los Angeles community.
