The Advocacy Committee, Bruins Public Health's newest committee, focuses on disseminating information about public health-related issues in the Los Angeles region, as well as national and international topics. Through co-sponsoring public health-related bills, creating proclamations with Los Angeles County, conducting literature reviews and writing white papers, holding advocacy events in partnership with local and county organizations, and lobbying events at the local and state-level, we are committed to advocating for historically underserved and underrepresented communities.Â
Beginning in Fall Quarter, Advocacy Committee members will identify public health-related topics they are interested in and work with members holding the same interests on producing policy briefs, advocacy, and lobbying events related to the topic they choose. The work that Advocacy Committee members produce has the opportunity to be published in journals and presented at various conferences and events.
